MembreLa deuxième petite trouvaille, une montre signée D.D. Neveren.

MembreThe watches shown are NOT English watches. They are commonly known as « DUTCH FAKE », montre fausse olandaise, and signed with inexistent English sounding manes, like
Neveren, Tarte etc.
They are SUISSE FAKES make to look like English watches. The « Hallmarks and Maker Mark » are also totally FAKES.
The Gold and Silver English Hallmark can be verified on line.
Makers can be verified with Baille « Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the Wold »I am suprised that Pianiste, with his very extensive knowledge, does not realize this.

MembreIt is very difficult to judge watches from photos.
However the first paire case watch shown by Pianiste, unsigned, appear to be English. I am very suspicious of the dial and the hands: arches in the minutes rings are not English, the scene painted is not English and the style of painting is not English.
The hands are a very poor imitation of beetle and poker hands.
The case bear genuine marks:
« g » letter date for London is 1822
« C H » for the case maker stand for Charles Harle (68 Wynyatt Street, Islington Road) registered at the Gold and Silversmith Hall the 13 June 1822
« Lion head » is the assay mark in this case London
The last mark is the standard mark, guarantee for the quality of the silver. The watch signed « Corn Wheeler » (Listed Maker) appear to be English, but the dial is strange and the hands are French.
The assay mark is for Birmingham, date letter not legible, « WH » is listed as case maker, but witch one out of the five registered is impossible to say without knowing the date letter.
The « Neveren » marks on the case ARE NOT ENGLISH ASSAY MARK, they do not conform to » maker mark, standard mark, assay mark, and date letter ». I will be very glad if you can decipher them for me, I an always willing to learn.Baille listing of « Neveren »
NEVEREN (NEUREN or NEWEREN)
D.B.D. London 1784
Watches at Kensington Museum, Glasgow Art Gall.
The fact that « Neveren » is listed and that watches signed thus are extant is not a guarantee that « Neveren » is a genuine maker. Baille give a very early date, the watch shown is not that early. The listing is also unusual for the absence of the first name.
In my opinion the watch signed « Neveren » is a fake.A list of Known fake name:

MembreThanks Tonywatch for the information.
I have another watch signed Cabrier, what do you know about this watchmaker ?
9 mars 2011 à 12h58 #420001304356tonywatch1748
MembreHi Pianiste,
You are showing a fantastic watch. Gold 22K? Quarter repeater? More pics of the case?
Now the CABRIER, from Baille, appear to be a dynasty of London watchmakers from 1667 to 1804 and beyond.
