The Tiger Tudor uses a Rolex modified non-chronometer grade ETA 2824-2 as its base caliber. One of the first things that I noticed upon examining the movement inside of the Tiger Tudor was the absence of the eccentric screw regulator that is standard for this movement. Rolex removed the standard balance cock and replaced it with their own balance cock and a micrometric regulator. This change in the movement allows for better adjustments in timing, and allows for a somewhat thinner movement. The rotor did not appear to be different than the standard ETA ball baring rotor, but it did appear that Rolex replaced some of the gears in the automatic winding system. The changes look to help insure better winding and less wear on the gears from use. To top all of that off, they added inlaid gold writing, polished the movement, and added Geneva Wave dcor. Im not completely sure of all of the changes that Rolex did to this movement since I was only able to examine it once, but these are the
things that really stuck out.
