Response posted by Oliver Mundy: Most if not all ‘Neveren’ watches are of European rather than British make, despite the London notation. This one is typical. The cock (the pierced and engraved bracket which covers the balance-wheel) is of a style chiefly associated with Holland; on an English watch the cock would have been larger and would have had a single wedge-shaped foot rather than two parallel-sided feet. The hinged silver dust-cap is another continental feature; in Britain it would have been gilt brass. Neveren (if this was his real name) was active from at least 1784, but here the broad flattened stem suggests a date about 1800-1815.
