To start out with, sorry that I don’t speak French!

It is just that I bought this vintage French divers watch and nobody on the Dutch and English forums around the world seem to know the brand and as it is a French watch I was hoping I could find the answer here. I hope it is OK to post my question in English…?

This is the watch I bought, it says "Automatique" and I bought it from a French ebay seller. It has this logo on it I thought I knew but I can not come up with the name. Maybe, as it is a French watch, you can help me?

    Pardon my French Franseduikervoor

Cordialement (and sorry for the English again!)

    Citation :
    si c’est un vendeur oui!!

I understand some French, I am not selling anything! As an introduction (sorry for the English again): I am a collector of watches, mostly vintage and started collecting vintage diving watches lately. I have two Squale’s (one with depth meter) a Nicolet with depth meter and a Sabina with depth meter at the moment.

bon bah j’explique à notre ami:

CAMIF is a "cooperative" (this may be a very french concept) created for people of the "éducation nationale" (ie: teachers)

You can buy mostly anything from them, but (up until a certain point, now this isn’t true… or are they out of business now? Incompréhensible ), you had to be a member of the "éducation nationale".

that means the watch was comissined, but to who?!
Please post pics of the movement once you get the watch….

    regards,
    le nico

edit: oops, you already know about the movement

Great, thank you very much for this information guys, I would have never found this out myself, who outside of France would know this?! The watch has an automatic ETA 2783 movement by the way (the seller says).

    Thanks again for the trouble!

Let me add some background, if I may.

To most French people, CAMIF is a mail order catalogue. Historically not the first one, that would be Le catalogue de la Manufacture d’armes et cycles de la manufacture de Saint-Etienne (later, Manufrance).

In fact CAMIF was a kind of collective purchasing organization founded by the national teachers’ society. In the 1990ies CAMIF foolishly cut its links with this organisation, changed its product offering and lost touch with its client base by trying to compete with generalist retailers. Then it went bust!

The CAMIF still has a website
    http://www.camif.fr
but since October 27, 2008 5pm Camif Particuliers is to be liquidated. Camif SA is under observation for 6 monthes.
It seems that just before being under the hammer of the Court, using rebates and other stuff, Camif had taken the money without delivering any product, and for about 5.000.000 €
In March 2009, Camif was bought by Matelsom, Geodis and Teleperformance.
