    Hello Jake,

Thanks for this amazing post, very interesting.
But it seems the Rolex Craig is wearing isn’t a 6538…
If you watch the bezel, it seems to be shiny steel and doesn’t seem to be black bakelite…unless it’s very "patinated" (hope this word exists in english)
When you focus on the bezel, it’s definitly steel…or am I mistaken???

Wink
    A+

    He EdouardG,

You bring up an excellent point which also really confused me as well. I thought about it, and I think I have an answer. In all the photos we see of Daniel Craig, it is likely he has studio lighting on him which is extremely bright and would cause the light to bounce off the bakelite and appear to be metal.

I think bakilite is much more reflective than the silk screened bezels.

    Does this make sense?

Also, the watch was a gift from Barbara Broccoli who is the daughter of Cubby Broccoli, so I assume it was her father’s watch.

Also, ironically, Daniel Craig is pictured wearing his watch on a NATO strap dubbed the "James Bond NATO" which is not a James Bond NATO and has nothing to do with James Bond because no James Bond ever wore a NATO–Ever. In other words, Daniel Craig is the first James Bond to ever wear a Rolex on a NATO strap, but I think he is perhaps misinformed.

This false dubbing is just like the falsely dubbed Steve McQueen Explorer that Steve McQueen NEVER wore–EVER!!!

    Happy Holidays!!!

    That makes sense!
If the Craig’s 6538 is Broccoli’s one, don’t imagine its value!
But now, I’m a little bit confused about bakilite bezel on 6538 or not… Incompréhensible
Our dear Tonton, reminded me of the fact that 6538 bezels weren’t bakilite but steel.
Now I’m a bit confused about your tellings Jake.
    Let me know.

    About F-WOWW post:
You’re right, Broccoli’s 6538 worn by Sean Connery was on a small black/brown Nato style strap.

    Traduction:

    Ca me parle!
    A te lire.

I honestly don’t know what the deal is with the bezel.

Regarding the strap, Sean Connery never wore a NATO strap. He wore a Regimental Belt Strap.

If you want to learn the difference between a NATO and a Belt strap please read these two articles:
