MembreLet me introduce myself, I am the author of the site so thanks for passing on the information and I am glad that some people found it useful.
As Arnaud pointed out many of these books are still very useful even if you do not read Japanese.
I do not read Japanese (or French) but there is still a lot of helpful information that can be obtained.
I was not aware of the Pierre-Yves Donzé’s book so I will make sure that I add this. I see that the author also has a similar book available in English that has just been released « Industrial Development, Technology Transfer, and Global Competition A history of the Japanese watch industry since 1850 » ISBN 9781138650695. I do wonder how much cross over there is between the two books.

MembreWelcome here AKable, it’s a pleasure to have you with us !
Thank you for your great website and for sharing amazing info about Seiko and your trips to Japan
About Pierre-Yves Donzé, the book he wrote in french is really really interesting and has a lot of economic data to backup his thesis. Giving its title, I bet his new book is more or less a translation of the one I was talking about earlier, so I can only recommend for you to get it. Some of his papers in english are also available online. It’s very serious and « scolar » but nonetheless amazingly thorough. He also wrote an article explaining why the 70s Swiss horology crisis had almost nothing to do with quartz but rather with the very structuration of its industry. Really interesting stuff.
All the best and thank you again !
Arnaud

MembreThanks Arnaud, I have added the two books from Pierre-Yves Donzé onto the page and have been reading through some of his papers in the last couple of hours. These are quite interesting and as you mention they contain some interesting insights into the industry.
If anyone else has any other publications about Japanese watches that come to mind I am more than happy to include these as well.

The Seiko Book
Seiko Divers Watch Evolution
Illustrated Seikosha Pocket Watches
Domestic Watch – Seiko Automatic Updated Volume
Rattraper et dépasser la Suisse
GS9 Magazine 1 à 68 septembre 2017 à 9h36 #420003488305broncos
MembreBonne pioche une fois de plus!

MembreCongratulations on some nice additions to the collection Arnaud.
Where did you manage to pick up the old issues of Low BEAT? I have checked out multiple BookOFF and similar stores but have not found issues of Low BEAT.

MembreHey Anthony ! Thanks

I found them at a bookstore called junkudo, in Ikebukuro, on the first floor. They only had one of each but I don’t know if they had more in stock…
Anyways, when you go to their website, you can find the books, so I guess they must have them somewhat in stock
(see here). Honda-san’s articles seen to be extremely interesting, as well as the whole magazines. I sincerely wish they were translated in english ! But Google translate will have to do
